Originally owned by one of Sarasota’s pioneering founders, Bertha Honore Palmer, the
Eagle Point Club, on Roberts Bay, was a private hunting and fishing resort in the earliest days of Venice. In the early 1920s, the 24-acre waterfront property was sold to the Curtis family of Baltimore and in 1989 was officially recognized as Sarasota County’s oldest continuously operated winter resort. Indeed, the Eagle Point Club is noted for being one of the oldest continuously operated family-owned business in the United States.
Today, the Eagle Point Club is a private residential community, with a gated entrance, just north of the Island of Venice. Many of the original resort cottages have been remodeled, while a limited number of homesites have been developed with resort-style Key West homes.
