Karen Melk brings extensive experience with high-end luxury real estate. Prior to joining Michael Saunders & Company, she enjoyed an exciting career in development, sales and marketing of some the most prestigious, luxury real estate and resort properties in the world. Most recently, Karen served as executive vice president of sales and marketing for the tony Fisher Island for ten years, where the company’s annual sales averaged $150 million in real estate transactions. She also sat on the Club Board of Directors and was the editor-in-chief of the award-winning FI Magazine.

During her tenure at Fisher Island, Karen was involved in the production of hundreds of membership and public relations events, which included hosting events with special guests including Oprah Winfrey, Walter Cronkite, Pulitzer Prize-winning authors and many other notable persons and companies. In addition, Karen handled the marketing for Musha Cay, a private island resort located in the Exuma chain of the Bahamas. Many dignitaries, industry leaders and A-listed celebrities were frequent guests of the resort, which rents for $250,000 per week.

After living in Miami for ten years, Karen, her husband, and their two Maltese dogs moved to Sarasota in November 2005. Here, they have continued their development passion by buying and developing very special single-family home properties.

Being a native Atlantan, Karen’s southern charm helps create a lasting bond of trust and goodwill between her and her customers. She is tenacious in her efforts to stay up to date on every detail available about the upper-end real estate market throughout southern Florida, which makes her an invaluable tool to her customers in their effort to make the best decision possible when purchasing a home or investment property.

She is an advocate for animal rights, enjoys gardening and interior design, and believes that Sarasota’s coastline and water access make it one of the most desirable and beautiful places to live in the United States.
