Steve grew up in Kissimmee, FL before the days of Disney World. For college, he attended the University of Florida and during the summer months his adventures in employment began as boat captain on the Jungle Cruise at Magic Kingdom. He has since navigated the geography of tropical shores (only without the angry hippos and hungry lions) as a State Licensed Landscape Architect, certified Planner, State Licensed Plan Examiner and Building Inspector, and certified Flood Water Manager. Within his 29-year tenure at the Town of Longboat Key, Steve approved hundreds of residential homes and commercial projects. He also played a key role in the design, funding, and construction of many island parks, beautification, and restoration projects. Steve has always been passionate about real estate and worked as a sales agent prior to his career as Town Planner. He received a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture and also majored in business administration with a focus in real estate at the University of Florida.
Steve is involved in numerous professional organizations including the American Society of Landscape Architects, American Institute of Certified Planners, Floodwater Managers Association, and Building Officials Association of Florida, and is a member of the Longboat Key Garden Club.
In his spare time, Steve enjoys boating, biking, going to the beach, and traveling. He and his wife, Doreen, have three adult children, Zachary, Forrest, and Savannah, all of whom were raised on Longboat Key.
