For over thirty years the tarpon, also known as the silver king, has been a prized catch in this annual tournament. Average tarpon can weigh 70 to 140 pounds (with larger ones reaching over 200 pounds) and these magnificent fish can be a thrilling catch for any seasoned angler. But beyond the high stakes sport fishing, the focus each year also turns towards education and conservation of the fishery. It’s an all-release, no-weigh, no-kill tournament that ensures the protection of natural resources for generations to come.
Running alongside the tournament, the 4th Annual Boca Grande Invitational Art Festival will be held in downtown Boca Grande. More than forty artists and craftsmen will have pieces on display. Visitors can also expect live music, food, and beverages.
