In popular usage, Sarasintric (adj.) refers to behavioral displays of uniqueness found only in a sunny city on the bay—individually Sarasota. Sarasintric is contrasted with homogenized behavior often found in cities without uniqueness and lacking character. We at ThisWeekInSarasota.com have partnered with Michael Saunders & Company to bring you the most unique experiences Sarasota offers.

Sarasintric abounds this month with wildly wonderful activities you can only find in Sarasota. Microbrew Tastings at Morton's Gourmet Market is one of our picks mid-month. It is sophisticated by nature and offers 40 brews paired with a beer-friendly menu. If your pallet desires something more intimate, you will definitely want to hit Taste Magazine’s Progressive Dinner. Think four restaurants, a hot limo, and all the good times you can handle.

Canvas Cafe has us crunching our cranium with their new summer series Eat, Drink and Think. The series is designed for 20 restaurant patrons to interact with a celebrity. Think - Bravo’s Actors Guild mixed with wine and fantastic food prepared by Chef Steven Phelps. It is a sold-out event, so get tickets now. Finally, on the food front we have an underground skinny to share with you. During the summer months, The Ritz-Carlton has an underground menu dedicated to the locals. You have to ask for the special menu, but once they hand you the sacred paper of culinary choices you can order a three-course meal for (get this) $35. The unique art of improv is on our radar as the FST Improv Troupe gears up for their summer series. Here are three tips for improv goers: 1) Buy tickets in advance because they sell out 100% of the time. 2) There is no assigned seating in the charming two-story cabaret, so get in line early. 3) Don’t make eye contact with anyone on stage unless you want to be a part of the show. If you are the type of personality who makes eye contact with the improvisers - allow us to save you a step. Auditions are being held for the three community theaters, and we have the audition and production schedules for Venice, Sarasota and Manatee theaters.

Sarasota is suddenly swarming with scooters as they are the latest Sarasota fad. They are green friendly ($5 of gas = 90 miles), and this new influx of sleek two-wheelers has resulted in Sarasota’s first and wildly popular scooter gang. Check it out here.

Nightlife is hopping with the new Red Buddha Lounge in the hip Rosemary District. It is the perfect place to end a weekend night. To see some great ideas of places to begin a night on the town, check out www.ThisWeekInSarasota.com. With over 2,000 Sarasota happenings, you are sure to fine something to make you feel at home.
