A Message From Michael Saunders
My good friends:
The 2008 presidential race is at long last over. The voters have spoken
and the pervasive new atmosphere is one of high hopes and great anticipation
as we segue from the campaign into the holiday season, the New Year and
an all-new administration in Washington come January 20th.
Regardless of whom you favored in the election, change was its inevitable
and universally hoped-for outcome. As the transition from old to new takes
place it’s a genuine pleasure to see partisan bickering replaced with a spirit
of cooperation and shared purpose between the outgoing and incoming administrations.
We have rocky economic times ahead and have rarely needed unity as urgently as
we do now. President-elect Obama said it best when he said: “Americans have
sent a message to the world that we have never been just a collection of
individuals; or a collection of red states and blue states. We are, and always
will be, the United States of America.”
As both the politicians and the pundits attempt to triage our ailing economy,
most agree that the number one treatment priority is fixing the broken housing
market. Our local market has already corrected itself considerably, so with
the right interventions we are quite possibly looking at a speedier recovery than
most. Meanwhile buyers are not shying away from achieving their two most
important buying objectives—price and location. The best values in the right
locations are today’s fastest-selling properties. If location is as important
to you as price, now is definitely the time to make your next move.
