Next Tuesday marks Independence Day, a special date filled with picnics and parades, fun and fireworks, and a fabulous occasion to proudly sing the Star Spangled Banner. The Sarasota area hosts a number of exciting events sure to make July 4th weekend special for all ages, and we’ve rounded up some of the best ones right here:

Sparkle on the Sarasota Bayfront

Part of the Suncoast Offshore Festival, here is your chance to marvel at the cascading display of lights and sounds at Sarasota Bayfront Park around 9pm on July 4th. If you’re a boater, this is the perfect opportunity to drop anchor and soak in the sights from the water. The event also benefits Suncoast Charities for Children.

A Scintillating Siesta Display

Experience Siesta Key’s famous fireworks show from its glorious sands, recently named #1 in the USA by Dr. Beach. Fireworks begin at around 9pm and can be best viewed from Crescent Beach, a little further south of the public beach, from the Gulf on your boat, or even on the Intracoastal.

Baseball in Bradenton

Visit Venice on the 4th

The South Jetty fireworks show in Venice is always a huge hit, and begins at sunset (around 8:30PM) on the 4th. Arrive early as thousands are expected to attend! The fireworks may be seen from all along the beach and surrounding waterways.

Englewood Gets Festive

A Fourth of July extravaganza takes place on Englewood’s Dearborn Street on July 4th. Presented by Lemon Bay Sunrise Rotary, the Englewood Firecracker Festival, Block Party and Craft Show offers food, beverages and a host of family activities. The fun begins at 10 a.m. and continues into the evening with a magnificent fireworks display— one of the largest in Southwest Florida– over Lemon Bay.

Patriotic Parade on AMI

Hosted annually by the Anna Maria Privateers on Anna Maria Island, the 4th of July Parade starts at 10AM until 12 noon. The seven-mile parade begins at Coquina Beach and will end at the North Anna Maria City Pier. The 2016 Parade was attended by 20,000 people! Call 941.209.2212 for more information.
