In 2020, the MSC Foundation set forth a goal to celebrate its 10th anniversary by reaching $1 million in grant distribution funds by the end of 2021. Ambitious yet confident in the efforts, the Foundation felt sure the goal would be met by December for its year-end calculations.
With pride, awe and honor, the MSC Foundation announced in July that it had exceeded $1 million in grant distributions since its inception in 2011. During the mid-year grant cycle council meeting, it was announced that $85,052 in grants would be distributed to 42 non-profit organizations throughout Manatee, Sarasota and Charlotte counties, marking the largest distribution of funds in any grant cycle.
Combined with past grant distributions, the total amount given by the MSC Foundation is $1,042,430. With contributions from Michael Saunders & Company’s more than 650 agents and 120 employees, the selected 501c3 organizations fulfilled the MSC Foundation’s mission to improve the lives of people in the communities they serve by providing funds to organizations that offer shelter, sustenance, education and a path to self-sufficiency.
“It is a proud moment, not just for the MSC Foundation to be able to distribute this record-breaking amount of funds to community organizations, but for Michael Saunders & Company sales associates and staff who contributed this grant cycle,” said company president, Drayton Saunders, and the vice president of the foundation. “We are thankful for our team of agents and staff who give both time and resources to the communities we serve on the Gulf Coast.”
Michael Saunders, Founder and CEO, and Drayton thanked the sales associates and staff for their commitment to the Foundation and communities.
Since launching in 2011, the MSC Foundation has provided grant distribution funds to 235 organizations across Manatee, Sarasota, Charlotte and Lee counties – ranging from youth and family services to underserved arts and literacy programs. Agents and employees who wish to contribute have the option of giving through their salary, sales commission or through one-time donations throughout each cycle. They can then sponsor grant applications to the council that oversees the day-to-day management of the Foundation and review grant requests.
