Beyond our beaches, recreation, and cultural offerings, Florida’s Gulf Coast is known as a center for modern architecture and design. [Check out this recent article in Vogue: Perfect Beach, Mid-Century Modern Charm: Is this Florida’s Best Kept Secret?] Beginning in the late 1940’s, many architects started to experiment with innovative forms and materials, resulting in a movement now referred to as the Sarasota School of Architecture. Today, the practice continues and stunning contemporary homes can be found throughout our region.
Celebrating this ode to architecture you’ll discover annual events, like Sarasota MOD Weekend and ArchiFest Sarasota (which Michael Saunders & Company has co-presented alongside the Sarasota Herald Tribune for the last two years). Local institutions, like the Sarasota Architectural Foundation and the Center for Architecture, are dedicated to supporting the legacy of good design from years past and into the future.
Here, we are showcasing an impressive architectural collection on the market today ranging from mid-century modern masterpieces to contemporary dream homes.
