The 2023 Spring Events Season Is in Full Swing on the Suncoast! Updated Through June!

This is the time of year when Florida’s weather is sunny, mild and beautiful, so it’s no surprise there is a cornucopia of festivities for you to enjoy every week for the next few months until summer. Whether you are looking to delight in delicious food, experience live music, or get inspired by art, there is no shortage of fun and unique things to do on the Suncoast. To help you plan your 2023 springtime calendar, the lifestyle experts at Michael Saunders compiled a schedule of 2023 events and festivals in the Sarasota, Bradenton and Venice areas from now until the end of June. Experience the small-town feeling and magic that makes the Suncoast so beloved by residents and visitors alike. You’ll discover there is a lot more to this area than just beautiful sunsets!

May and June Events

May 13 | 11 am – 3 pm: Be prepared to leave with a new furry friend at the 7th Annual Manatee County Pet Expo Adopt-A-Palooza – the larges one-day adoption event and pet expo event in Manatee County. You’ll swoon over 100 adorable adoptable puppies, dogs, cats and kittens. Bradenton Area Convention Center, 1 Haben Blvd, Palmetto. Free parking and admission.

May 13: Formerly the Harvey Milk festival, the Pride | Be Fabulous Arts & Music Festival is taking place at Rosemary Park, 531 Central Av, Sarasota. Free admission.

May 15 | 6 pm – 9 pm: Enjoy live music and picturesque views with Ringling by the Bay taking place on the Ringling Museum grounds. Food and drinks available for purchase. Tickets available 1 month prior to event $20/$10 for members. Limited number of tickets.

May 20 | 6:30 am check-in: Everyone ages 12+ are invited to take part in the Sarasota International Dragon Boat Festival. Boats, life-vests, paddles and coaches are provided. Various race distances and team fees. Beer garden, food trucks, entertainment and more. Nathan Benderson Park, Sarasota. Parking $5, free admission.

May 22 | 7:30 pm: Enjoy live jazz music during Monday Night Jazz at the Florida Studio Theatre Court Cabaret. Doors open at 6:30 pm for dinner and beverages, concert starts at 7:30 pm. FST, First St and Cocoanut Av. Ticket prices vary.

May 27 | 8 am – 2 pm: The 8th Annual Memorial Day 5K Hike, hosted by SRQ Vets, honors fallen heroes. Event looks to unite local vets with civilian communities while raising funds to support local vets. Hike concludes with a cookout, music, raffles, food, beverage and more. Paid participants receive event t-shirt, 1 lunch ticket and 1 drink ticket. Children can participate too. JD Hamel Park, 199 Bayfront Dr, Sarasota. $30 per person donation.

May 29 | 10 am: Sarasota Memorial Day Parade takes place at Osprey and Main and proceeds down Main Street to JD Hamel Park. Free admission.

May 29 | 5 pm – 7 pm: The Annual Memorial Day Concert in Phillippi Estate Park at the gazebo features live music by the Sarasota Concert Band. Food and drink vendors available. Lawn chairs welcome. 5500 S Tamiami Trl, Sarasota. Free admission.

June 2 | 6 pm – 9 pm: Enjoy live music on the first Friday of every month at Music on Main at Lakewood Ranch. Food vendors, beer, wine and activities for kids. Chairs welcome but leave coolers at home. Dog-friendly. LWR Main Street. Free admission.

June 10 – 11 | 10 am – 4 pm: Visit the 21st Annual St. Armands Craft Festival to view and purchase a large variety of paintings, ceramics, jewelry and more. Held around Circle Park. Good luck finding parking. Free admission.

June 17-19 | 10 am – 4 pm: Pick up a new piece of artwork or cool craft item at the 30th Annual Downtown Venice Craft Festival. You’ll see stained glass, photography, ceramics, paintings and more. W Venice Ave in downtown Venice. Free admission.

June TBA: Sarasota Powerboat and Grand Prix and Suncoast Summer Fest. Experience the thrill of watching offshore boat racing while enjoying plenty of food, drinks, entertainment and vendors.
