A Dar-Winning New Restaurant

Local Chef, Darwin Santa Maria, will be opening his newest venture this month. Dubbed “Darwin Evolutionary Cuisine”, the restaurant will serve up the Chef’s signature ceviche, skirt steak with chimichurri sauce, and other creative cuisine; as well as local artisan beers. Located at 4141 S. Tamiami Trail, the restaurant will seat nearly 100 guests and provide ample parking. Chef Darwin himself describes the concept as “fresh and cosmopolitan — the perfect blend of urban, local and global — intimate, comfortable and upscale.” Count us in!

Aw, Shucks! Atlantic Beer and Oyster is Coming Soon

Earlier in the year, commercial building permits were filed with the city of Sarasota for the addition of an Atlantic Beer and Oyster restaurant at 1534 State Street in downtown SRQ. Owned by the parent company of Boca Kitchen Bar & Market, which made its move downtown last year, the new Oyster restaurant will be less than a block away. No word yet on when the restaurant is projected to open, but you can check out the menu of their Winter Park location.

Casual, Coastal & Carefree on AMI

Minto Communities and Margaritaville Holdings announced in June the development of a new marina and 132 luxury residences at Harbour Isle on Anna Maria Sound, directly across from Anna Maria Island. “We look forward to bringing Margaritaville’s fun, escapism and casual-luxe lifestyle to Harbour Isle, a community already known for its charming seaside appeal,” said John Cohlan, chief executive officer of Margaritaville. The marina will include 55 wet slips and 128 dry slips, ships store, and up to 30,000 square feet of commercial space with restaurants, entertainment and shops. Construction on the marina has begun and is slated for completion in spring 2018.
