Michael Saunders & Company is proud to be presenting the second annual ArchiFest alongside the Sarasota Herald Tribune on Saturday, April 22nd from 10a.m.- 3p.m at 1741 Main Street.
Right on the heels of Sarasota appearing in the the pages of Vogue Magazine, where the magazine praised our community as being “home to some of the country’s finest examples of mid-century modern architecture”, ArchiFest further examines our tradition of innovative design with panel discussions surrounding the theme “Renew, Renovate, Reuse”.
Real estate editor Harold Bubil is hosting and will be joined by co-host, Kathryn Parks of Michael Saunders & Company. They will moderate discussions with some of the area’s leading architects, design firms, and builders. Admission is free.
Panel discussions (schedule subject to change):
10:05-10:30 – “Residential Success Stories,” featuring the Umbrella House, Revere Quality House and other examples of historic or architecturally significant houses that have been renewed rather than demolished.
10:45-11:15 – “Commercial Reuse Case Study,” featuring the Scott Building, headquarters of the Center for Architecture Sarasota.
11:30-noon – “School/Public Success Stories,” featuring Sarasota High School and the Siesta Beach Pavilion.
Lunch break
12:30-1:15 – “Bayfront 20:20 and the Quay: What to do with the Van Wezel and all that land.”
1:20-1:50 – “New Projects,” featuring the Seminole House, the Eide Center and the BLVD condominium.
1:55-2:25 – “Teamwork: Working with the architect-builder team.”
2:30-3 p.m. – “Renewal in Practice: Lido Shores.”

The public is also welcome to meet architects and ask questions, as they will be gathered in a “marketplace of ideas” inspired by local farmers markets. Michael Saunders & Company will also have a booth staffed with Realtors, prepared to answer any questions about Sarasota real estate.
