Originally from Detroit, Michigan, B.J. Ratigan earned his bachelor’s degree from Assumption College in Worcester, Massachusetts, where he also played varsity baseball, soccer and hockey. A consummate professional, B.J. brings over 33 years of industrial and marketing management experience to his real estate career. Although involved with industrial and commercial real estate for many years, he began serving the residential market in the Detroit area in 1997. After intermittently spending 35 years on Florida’s Gulf Coast, B.J. now resides permanently in Sarasota, where he focuses his specialties on waterfront and golf course properties, as he did in Michigan.

To perform a higher level of service for his clients, B.J. obtained the Short Sale and Foreclosures (SFR) and the Accredited Buyer Representative (ABR) designations. He has more than ten additional certifications including training as a professional negotiator.

On the personal side, his interests include spending time with his family—including three grandsons—plus sports, fishing, reading and flying, as he is licensed as a commercial and seaplane pilot—an interest he developed while serving in Vietnam in the late ‘60s. He also spends time as a volunteer with the American Red Cross in Sarasota, and disabled veterans at the VA hospital in Bay Pines, Florida.
