The first official Mother’s Day was celebrated in the United States on May 9th, 1914, when President Woodrow Wilson issued a presidential proclamation to establish the holiday. One hundred years later, we are proud to uphold the tradition of honoring the women who care for us, love us, and guide us. This year’s Mother’s Day takes place on Sunday, May 11th, and there are a plethora of opportunities to do something extra special for mom in the Sarasota area. Selby Gardens Mother’s Day Brunch Sunday, May 11, 10:00am - 3:00pm
Treat mom to an unforgettable day, with a stunning backdrop provided by Mother Nature herself. Sarasota Yacht Club Saturday, May 10, 2014 For members of The Sarasota Yacht Club, this year is the First Annual Mother`s Day Dash. The event will consist of a sailboat race in the Gulf, followed by an awards party with live music by the pool. Whether you enter the race or simply watch the fun, the day promises to be an action-packed boating adventure filled with exhilaration. $50 entry fee. A variety of vessels are available, so you and mom will be cruising across the Intracoastal in no time! Mother's Day Garden Tour Saturday, May 10 10:00am - 4:00pm The Manatee River Garden Club is holding its annual Mother's Day Garden Tour, offering the chance to explore 5 beautiful gardens in Bradenton.
