With a weather outlook of sunny skies and temperatures in the 70’s, we’d take any excuse to be outside this weekend. Lucky for us, there are two exceptional outdoor art and culture to choose from: the Sarasota Chalk Festival and the Siesta Key Crystal Classic Master Sandsculpting Competition.
The Sarasota Chalk Festival is being held November 14 – 17 in Venice, Florida. Artists from around the world converge for one weekend with chalk and pavement as their tools for creativity. Featured this year, you’ll see the world’s largest 3D pavement painting (an attempt at making the Guinness World Record), traditional pavement art, and a children’s chalk block. Head over to the Chalk Festival website for their schedule of events and information on where to go for all the artful action.
The Siesta Key Crystal Classic can be enjoyed November 14 – 18. Walk the white sands of Siesta Key and view master sand sculptors as they compete to go onto the Masters competition with works of sand art. Delightful sand masterpieces – some reaching ten feet tall - will transform the always beautiful Siesta Key. This is a must-see! Check out their website for event details. Are you planning on attending any of these events? Let us know in the comments!
