Our heavenly hometown of Venice, Florida received the #2 spot after six weeks of online voting. The public rallied for their favorite destinations based on a top ten shortlist presented by Coastal Living editors who based their choices on Gallup-Healthways Well-Being Index, percentage of sunny days, air quality, healthiness of beaches, commute times, crime ratings, walkability, standard of living and financial well-being of the locals, geographic diversity, and Coastal Living editors’ assessment of each town’s “coastal vibe". Coastal Living named numerous reasons why Venice is a winner including its big heart; 14 miles of gorgeous, pearly-white beaches; lushly landscaped avenues; Italian Renaissance–style buildings as an homage to the town’s Italian namesake; the Venetian Waterway; Broward Paw Park Beach; and more.
