Michael says that pushing boundaries and making mistakes go hand in hand. “If you don’t make mistakes, you’re not pushing hard enough and you’re not reaching far enough,” she says. She emphasized the importance of quickly learning from mistakes, changing course without dwelling on the past and not repeating the same errors. After investing nearly five decades in building the company, Michael remains passionate about real estate, people and her work. “You can retire from a lot of things, but I don’t think you can retire from passion. Real estate really defines me. I wake up every day, as does Drayton, thinking about how we can make this company just a little bit better.
