It was with great pride that Michael Saunders & Company leadership, staff and agents gathered at the Lakewood Ranch office on January 15th for the MSC Foundation year-end grant distribution event. Also in attendance were more than 70 individuals, representing 52 local non-profit organizations throughout Manatee, Sarasota and Charlotte counties.
Amid the extraordinary stories and collaborations facilitated by CEO, Michael Saunders and President, Drayton Saunders, $58,000 in checks were distributed to those organizations that align with the Foundation’s mission to fund causes offering shelter, sustenance, education and a path to self-sufficiency within their respective communities.
Launched in 2011 as a way for Michael Saunders & Company employees and agents to pool their charitable efforts, the Foundation has contributed more than $840,000 to 212 organizations. It is through the generosity of our agents who, on each transaction, voluntarily donate a portion of their real estate commission, and our staff that chooses to contribute throughout the year The Foundation hopes to mark its 10-year anniversary by ending 2021 with more than $1 million in donations.
Those that have contributed to the Foundation sponsor grant requests for 501(c)(3) groups in our community. These grant applications are reviewed by the Foundation’s council, comprised of members from each of the company’s 24 sales and administrative offices, and guide the philanthropic activities of the Foundation as well as determine how funds will be distributed.
