Living on Florida's Gulf Coast, we are used to seeing the beauty of the natural world all around us. Sometimes though, the beauty of things that you can’t see is what really counts. This past Friday, MSC agents and staff gathered at the
Lakewood Ranch office, where grants were awarded to many deserving local organizations. From feeding empty tummies, to enriching arts and culture, to providing a safe refuge for those in need – the work of these admirable non-profits is truly invaluable.

Selah Freedom Human trafficking is an issue many people associate with countries far removed from the United States. The fact is, 100-300,000 American children are sold into sex slavery every year, with the state of Florida ranking in the top three for human trafficking. Selah Freedom, a Sarasota based organization, provides a safe place for survivors to recover from their abuse, while raising awareness of the sexual exploitation that goes on right here in Sarasota and Bradenton. In less than a year, Selah Freedom provided vital support to 50 women – that's 50 individuals who now have the chance to heal, and reclaim their lives. SelahFreedom.com. Children’s Guardian Fund Every day in our community, a child is removed from an abusive or neglectful family and placed in the state’s care. The Children’s Guardian Fund (CGF) and the Guardian ad Litem (GAL) program work together to ensure that young people who do not have the support of their parents at least have the support of their community. From gift cards on their birthdays, to camp scholarships, to academic awards recognizing their achievements, the Children’s Guardian Fund helps young people develop a sense of normalcy and self-worth.
