A company-wide invitation, a fancy bayside address, and a corporate sanction allowing for jeans. November 2nd was off to a good start. It was almost lunchtime as nearly 150 full-time employees (no sales agents) arrived at the Hyatt. Boxed lunches, name tags, and bandanas were provided and we headed to our tables to meet our team members for the day.

As we took in the faces around us, it really hit home that for a local, family-owned business, Michael Saunders & Company is pretty big. There are 24 offices supporting nearly 600 real estate agents. While the stream of communication between offices is constant, facetime is not always typical. So it was a treat for everyone to finally connect names to faces.
Michael and Drayton kicked off the event.

And then our special guest and speaker, Dave Mitchell, took over. Ridiculously entertaining, Dave gave insights into different communication styles while we all learned a little bit about ourselves. Employees answered a questionnaire and discovered what they were based on four overarching personality styles: Romantics, Warriors, Experts, and Masterminds. The vast majority of MSC employees are Romantics.
From there, we participated in team building activities. Each table competed as we built and decorated a toy wagon under a time limit.
My table and this dream-of-a-wagon won :)
It's a "sailboat". And then we donated all the toys and wagons to the Boys and Girls Club of Sarasota!
It was a colorful, creative, super-fun day.
And surprisingly... romantic.

And thanks to Classic Entertainment and Wildly Different for awesome team building activities. Did you attend? What personality style were you and do you think it describes you? Let us know in the comments!
