Symbolizing hope and positivity going into the new year, MSC Foundation council members virtually united in December 2020 to award a total of $66,500 to local organizations. This marked the largest contribution since the formation of the Foundation in 2011. Embarking on its 10th year, the philanthropic extension of Michael Saunders & Company is directly on target to meet its $1M goal.
Created as a way for MSC employees and agents to pool their charitable efforts, the Foundation has contributed more than $957,378 to more than 200 local organizations throughout Manatee, Sarasota and Charlotte counties. Organizations are awarded based on the Foundation’s mission to fund causes offering shelter, sustenance, education and a path to self-sufficiency within their respective communities.
The challenges of 2020 saw local communities needing more aid, making this grant total even more rewarding. It couldn’t have been accomplished without the contributions from MSC agents and staff. In addition to their contributions to the Foundation, the MSC family extended additional support to the community at the start and height of the pandemic, through local outreach efforts, food drives and by feeding healthcare heroes. MSC Foundation’s next grant cycle distribution will take place in June.
